This video is a short introduction into the quality of mind and body that supports heart opening in yoga postures and movements.
As we think, feel, and move — so we are. It isn’t enough to “lift” your heart, or even to move from your heart.
The mind, the inner qualities of reverence and acceptance underlie our movements. By going to the mind and feeling body, yielding to and allowing compassion to grow as an embodied sensation we can come into the prayerful shape of anjali mudra. We learn as we go — allowing and deepening with every breath, moment, practice and day. Wisdom is in the body and expressing outward. It is not the mind trying to know something.
As my teacher reminded us all the other day,
“The beginning of knowing is not knowing. The not knowing is the new.”
