From the Archives: A Journey into the Blood
This short audio (14 minutes) is not just a meditation. It’s a visceral call to presence, to courage, and to embodiment. Blood holds history. Blood carries truth. It pulses with memory, resilience, and potential. When we listen inward — really listen — we might find a deeper source of strength than we knew we had. This piece feels especially alive right now. May it bring you a a felt sense of connection and clarity.
Take 14 minutes. Let your blood reveal its power to you. Bravery is moving through your veins.
Embodying our inherent humanity is not a joy ride. One of the biggest challenges in any inquiry practice is to be really honest with yourself about who you are (in the personal) and what you really want.
Are you prepared for that dive. We need support to hold complex truths. We need loved ones, community, and a philosophical context that is deep enough to hold the depth of who we are.
What Does Our Personal Blood Have To Do With Anything?
This is an inquiry that has been renewed for me lately. The urgency of it all. I imagine it may have power for you too.
Grounding, rich and dark. Our blood unifies us. Blood flow is evident in life’s tragedies and joys. Our blood is ours. Others have their own blood. The separation between self and other is real, yes…and it is also not real. Getting to know our own richly human fluid may help to humanize our actions with one another and the world.
We share blood. Does love flow in your blood? What does flow in your blood? And as your blood? What does it feel like to recognize the power of its pulsing and surging within? It may be useful to know this stuff — this very human warmth — that we share.
How does it move? What is it doing in there? How is it “blood”? Maybe it could have been something else. What does it offer? Is it self-aware? In other words, does blood know itself?
Knowing your blood — or your heart for that matter — is not a one-off process. “Oh yeah, I’ve done that. I know my blood. I have opened my heart.” Okay, maybe. I’m sure you have made good progress. However, do you detect any resistance at all to feeling more deeply…and then also… acting with more courage?
Lifelong Journey Starts Somewhere… and Keeps Going
Lifelong inquiry seems to be foundational for gaining self-knowledge and therefore, for recognizing how we perceive, how we think, and act. It is so easy for our minds to trick us!
Who are we in this? Inquire. Do you have time? I hope you will listen…and comment below.
